Oriental
- 2 parts rye or bourbon
- 1 part cointreau
- 1 part sweet red vermouth
- 1 part or less lime juice
Shake and strain. Serve in a chilled cocktail glass with an orange twist.
Also known as the "James Joyce Cocktail" if you use Irish Whiskey, this cocktail recipe was (as legend has it) given to a doctor on the creator's near-death-bed as thanks for saving his live (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/all-we-can-eat/spirits/cocktail...). Regardless, it's a fantastic spring "bridge season" cocktail, updating your winter Manhattans and moving them to brighter flavors.
